This was my first Vi Keeland novel, but it won’t be my last. Delilah Maddox is a female sports reporter, a field mostly dominated by men. Brody Easton is a famous quarterback and he deliberately tries to sabotage Delilah’s first interview with him – by dropping his towel as soon as they go to air, leaving Delilah momentarily speechless while she oggles his man parts.
Pretty much straight away you can tell that Brody is the kind of character who is going to have you laughing and smirking throughout the book.
We get switching POV’s throughout this one and its especially sweet to see the chapters where Brody is visiting Marlene – it shows his sweet and caring side which of course is something all women would want to swoon over.
Visiting Marlene brings up some questions from Brody’s past though, particularly, who is Willow and how is this going to play out during the book?
Of course we learn had previously learnt about Drew, who is from Delilah’s past, and you get the feeling he will keep popping up in the book as well.
I found Indie to be a great secondary character – she’s hilarious and witty, and a great friend to Delilah.
As you read through the book and watch the relationship between Delilah and Brody play out, you can’t help but think, damn, what is it about arrogant jocks that has us ladies swooning everytime? *sigh*
Of course then when things are going good between Delilah and Brody, a bombshell hits at about 52% and it was definitely not what I expected to happen. I also felt like there was going to be disaster coming after this.
Disaster does strike but not in the way that the reader expects. This part of the book was quite sad, but Brody handled things alot better than I thought he would. He is also wayyyy more patient that I would have expected him to be and this proves him to be of way stronger character than you originally guess.
I don’t want to go into too much more detail and spoil things for those who haven’t read it, but this last part of the book is just as good as the first part.
Also, let me just say that the epilogue was awesome, and damn Brody! *swoon*
I highly recommend this one – a quick, fun, flirty and sexy read.
